Writing Landing Pages
Writing landing pages is all about appealing to a specific online audience. From a copywriting point of view, there are powerful comparisons with writing sales letters where you're talking one-to-one to a specific person with highly specific needs.
A landing page will be written with SEO in mind, with well-researched keywords and key phrases featuring prominently in the meta tags, headline tags and, possibly, the web page URL.
These same keywords will also be concentrated in your linking Pay-Per-Click ads, online PR and articles. They shouldn't be linked to your website's Home page of course, but to carefully thought-out standalone pages that are written with targeted persuasion as their Number One aim.
The idea is to create a frenzy around certain keywords that will resonate on your landing page - in both the meta tags and the copy content. And just like a sales letter, the overall aim is to write copy that is persuasive enough to generate sales, or customer interest that will ultimately be profitable or beneficial to the business in some other way.
A successful landing page must deliver on the promise of an online ad, article resource box or PR introduction. It must be expansive, enthusiastic and, above all, persuasive.
