According to RAJAR (Radio Joint Audience Research), figures for the second quarter of 2011 showed a year-on-year increase of 10.7% for radio listening on various digital platforms. Listening on mobile phones has increased by 16.1%, and listening hours have increased to 22.6 per person.

 

Febuary 2011 figures released by industry body Radio Joint Audience Research Ltd (RAJAR) confirm that radio listening is as popular as ever. 46.7 million adults - 90.5% of the UK population - tuned in to their favourite radio stations each week during the fourth quarter of 2010.

This represents a year-on-year increase of 0.75 million (or 1.7%). Hidden amongst the figures is the outstanding fact that digital radio listening has increased by an impressive 22%. Radio listening via mobile phone has increased by a respectable 4.1% quarter on quarter, with the 15-24 age group claiming a massive 30.7% of that.
